She’ll briefly cover many frequently asked questions she receives in consultation, such as: how to explain neurofeedback to patients and other practitioners, how to set up your office for neurofeedback sessions, practical considerations and hygiene, when and how to start, informed consent, assessment, treatment planning, developing your clinical acumen, how to track sessions and progress, what to do with non-responders, when and how to stop, how to market your practice, and designing and pacing your own continuing education in the field. Additionally, Silvia will share a handout with links to recommended articles and books, classes, and other resources. The final 15 minutes will be reserved for your questions.

Silvia Costales, MFT, BCN, is a psychotherapist in private practice in Santa Rosa, California. Equal with her fascination with the human psyche, Silvia has long studied the health of the human body, so neurofeedback was a thrilling discovery and natural marriage for her in 2010. And she’s pretty sure Freud would have loved it too, if only he’d had the technology. She added neurofeedback to her practice in 2011, and was board certified in 2014. Silvia enjoys mentoring other psychotherapists who are new to the neurofeedback field, and hopefully helping them avoid some of the inevitable overwhelm of getting started. In her free time, Silvia enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, and spending time with friends, family, her dog, and in nature.
