Course Description:
This series continues to delve into the cutting-edge field of neurofeedback and its profound impact on optimizing performance, particularly in elite performers. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore the potential of neurofeedback training in enhancing cognitive and physical capabilities.
Session 4: In this session, participants will delve into the practical aspects of implementing neurofeedback training protocols tailored specifically for performance enhancement. We will explore potential training protocols that extend beyond traditional qEEG methodologies, emphasizing techniques uniquely suited for performance populations. Through detailed discussion, participants will gain insights into considerations for assessment and tracking progress throughout the training process. Additionally, we will dissect the intricacies of conducting neurofeedback sessions, focusing on techniques designed to optimize outcomes in performance settings. We will address the challenges and strategies involved in taking neurofeedback training from the office setting into the field, offering practical guidance for seamless integration into real-world athletic environments.

Leslie Sherlin, PhD
Dr. Sherlin has had an extensive career in providing patient services, academic research and instruction, and entrepreneurial endeavors in mental health care. He is a leading expert in the research and use of neuroscience for improving human performance. He has led research partnerships with Red Bull North America's High-Performance Center, USA Track & Field, US military Special Operations Forces, local and federal level law enforcement agencies, Fortune 500 companies and professional teams in multiple sports in many countries. He has published his work in the academic literature and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, BBC, Sports Illustrated, CNN, ESPN, Popular Science, Outdoor Magazine and more.
He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology, and PhD in Psychology. He later completed a PhD re-specialization and post-doctoral fellowship in Sport & Performance Psychology. He completed a PhD in Clinical Pastoral Counseling and a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling with an emphasis in Expressive Arts Therapy. He is currently finishing a Master of Fine Arts in Photography.
Dr. Sherlin is a licensed counselor in the state of Arizona. He is listed in the United States Olympic Committee Sport Psychology and Mental Training Registry. He is certified at the Diplomat licensed level by the International Board of Quantitative Electroencephalography (QEEGDL), is Biofeedback Certification International Alliance Board certified in Biofeedback and Neurofeedback (BCN, BCB). He is certified as an equine certified professional by the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (ECP), a Certified Mental Performance Consultant by the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (CMPC), a Nationally Certified Counselor by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NCC) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Provider (CCTP). He has served on the board of directors of the International Society of Neuroregulation and Research in a variety of positions including the president for 3 different terms. He has served on the board of directors for the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance in a variety of roles and is the current chairperson of the board.
He currently is a full time provider of services in clinical counseling as well as sport and performance psychology consulting to individuals, families, teams and organizations through private practice. In academia, he has previously held positions of the Associate Dean of Academics, Lead Faculty for the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Ottawa University, Surprise, Arizona. He is an Adjunct Faculty at Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Arizona. He is an Affiliated Faculty member with the School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy at Fuller Theological Seminary. He is Adjunct Associate Professor at Sonoran University of Health Sciences in Tempe, Arizona and Adjunct Research Faculty at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona.
